Okay so I don’t have red hair, a fishtail, or a seashell bra (but how sweet would it be if i did?!), however my name really is Arielle and essentially I live and work on the water. After scrupulously avoiding the corporate world, I found a way to make my dreams of travel come to fruition when in 2011 I took a job as a nanny onboard a 43 meter private yacht. As such, this isn’t your typical travel blog; but then again, i’m not your typical girl. Join me as I see the world one port at a time and as always, hope for fair winds and following seas.

  5. Hello Arielle, I am a fellow Travel Nanny. We could possibly in the same country/city at the same time and meet up if we are.

I will be in Sydney in August then Italy in December and Dubai in January. With New York in there somewhere!

It would be fun to have a fellow nanny to meet up with – I look after a baby and come from NZ originally.

    • Hi! Thanks for the comment! Sounds like an awesome itinerary you have planned, but it doesn’t look like I’ll be in any of those places. We’re up in Alaska all summer and then meant to cruise down the west coast US and down through the Panama Canal. We’ve actually got a kiwi deckhand onboard 🙂 Maybe one day our paths will cross!

  6. What a great way to make a living! I also work with kids, but not on water ;0) I teach in Athens, Greece and blog about it. I am partial, however, to the odd spot of sea travelling…but usually as a passenger on a container ship! Yes, like you, “I’m not your typical girl.”

Sounds like fun! What’s the longest you’ve ever moored anywhere?

    • It’s definitely not a bad gig, that’s for sure! How wonderful to live in Greece- I can’t wait to read your take on it. Can’t say I’d enjoy being on a container ship however…!

We often spend about 2-3 months at a given place, but the longest time we spent docked was in Singapore for about 4 months.

  7. what an amazing opportunity you have!! 🙂 I am a nanny also ! and love it! i look forward to reading more of your posts 🙂
